MSL Salary UK provides compensation benchmarks for Medical Science Liaison in the United Kingdom. The research results from the input of 16 respondents from eleven pharmaceutical companies operating in the United Kingdom. Retention of talent is difficult in a highly competitive industry like life sciences. For the most part, compensation is often the basis for individuals to move from one company to another. Companies’ upper management and human resources departments usually base their compensation structure on internally developed guidelines, available annual budgets, government data or limited information on competing entities.
The research was designed to investigate compensation standards across 14 therapeutic areas for the Medical Science Liaison position. In total, the data are based on 133 reported salaries. Salary data is presented through percentiles and averages. The study delivers compensation benchmarks that will help medical affairs executives support their decisions to establish or realign salaries for their function.
